Our Story
The Lawrence’s love time spent on the farm with family and friends. We are inspired by beautiful spaces and the glory of nature. We value hard work, creativity, and the pursuit of joy with loved ones on our land. Hi-Ho Lodge is a collaboration of these affections.
Hi-Ho Lodge began as an adventurous escape for our growing young family to spend time outside exploring life on the farm. The 58-acre property is home to our primary business, a children's summer camp that we have owned since 2013, and has been in operation by the Lawrence family since 1986. Here, children get to enjoy all the fun activities available on the land. For years we spent so much of our free time at “Camp”, as we call it, making improvements to the structure and grounds, adding new animals and outdoor activities, while enjoying the beautiful property, sharing meals made using food from the farm, and creating memories with family and friends.
Our best moments spent together were on the farm, where we would escape from the hustle of everyday life, and go outside to explore and be refreshed. Running free in the woods, the sound of leaves crunching beneath our feet, collecting bones and feathers — “treasures” from the ground, making bouquets of wildflowers, and feeding handfuls of grass to our ponies; these experiences brought us the most excitement and joy. Returning to the farm to rest and explore became our family rhythm when we wanted to be filled and renewed. Watching ducklings slowly hatch and baby goats be born; the feel of the changing air with each new season; catching a bass from the lake with a wiggly worm and filthy hands; the purest taste of a ripe strawberry or juicy tomato plucked fresh from the garden — these simple yet thrilling moments became traditions that our family looked forward to living out again and again. Sharing these experiences with our friends was somehow even richer. A warm egg just collected from the coup placed in the hands of your best friend’s child; sticky s’mores around the smoky smell of a campfire in the cool of the evening; the epic thrill of finding a frog or a turtle on a hike together… these wonderful moments of fellowship in nature brought life to our souls, and taught us about the true joy of hospitality. Each time we connected with the land and its inhabitants, we felt excited, refreshed, alive, and free. We always we dreamed of other ways we might be able to grow and invite more people to experience the pure and magical pleasures in this space that we cherish.
In 2020, our primary structure suffered a huge fire and we were forced to rebuild the majority of our living and working areas. While this was a devastating loss, we were given the opportunity to fulfill our dreams of expansion in order to share the place we love with larger groups. After years of dedication and hard work, with so much love and support from our community, we were finally able to complete the long and arduous construction process of rebuilding the spaces that now make up Hi-Ho Lodge.
For the past decade we have sought to create a one of a kind environment that makes the beauty of nature and the joys of farm life accessible to all who visit. We have thoughtfully designed Hi-Ho Lodge to be used as a multipurpose space for all types of meetings, conferences, special events, retreats, celebrations, and family vacations or getaways with friends. Rooted in the values of hospitality, fellowship, and tradition in nature, we are excited to invite you to experience what we offer at Hi-Ho Lodge, and look forward to welcoming you to the special place we love.
